DAVIS CUP
Deer Park, N.Y.
Wednesday, June 17, 1998 -
QuesTec Imaging, Inc. (QuesTec),
(NASD-BB: QSTI), , and Live
Motion Company (LMC) of
Wiesbaden, Germany announce the
first individual-sport contract
forthe research, development and
distribution of a virtual
replay,broadcast enhancement
system for the sport of tennis.
This contract signing falls on
the heels of a June 10,1998
announcement of a seven-year
Strategic Alliance, Research and
Development Agreement between
QuesTec and LMC in which LMC has
agreed to provide partial-funding
for the research and development
of future sports-imaging,
broadcast enhancement products
(like QuesTec's existing
GolfProView TM and SuperVision SM
pitch-tracking system for
baseball), and to lend its vast
live-television production
experience and significant
client/sponsor relationships for
the successful distribution of
any new products. "This new
tennis application is being
marketed for $ 25,000 U.S. per
event, with projected revenues,
following product release for
licensing fees, royalty fees and
product services to be about $2.1
million U.S. for the next three
(3) years." Mike Russo,
President.
Under the terms of
the tennis contract LMC will
invest over $100,000U.S for the
purchase of hardware and as
development funding, which
includes an initial payment of
$30,000 U.S and additional
payments during each month of
development-- with the balance
due upon completion of the
product. As stipulated in the
June 10 Agreement,QuesTec will
retain ownership rights to the
new system and exclusive
distribution rights throughout
North America, the Caribbean and
Bermuda, while LMC will retain
exclusive distribution rights for
Europe, Dubai and the United Arab
Emirates. In addition, QuesTec
and LMC will split any licensing
fees and royalties evenly from
third-party contracts obtained in
non-exclusive territories.
The visual output of
the new virtual replay system is
scheduled to be unveiled to LMC'
s list of clients and sponsors
July 15-19 at the Davis Cup
Tournament in Hamburg, Germany.
In addition to the Davis Cup
matches LMC handles tv-production
for as many as fifteen tennis
tournaments a year, which has
included the ATP World Cup, the
Compaq Grand Slam and Wimbledon.
Because of the
speeds reached by the ball during
tennis matches, innovative new
technology has been developed for
the tracking mechanism of the
system which is due to be
completed in the fourth quarter
of 1998. When the system is
complete QuesTec management plans
to distribute the new product
under its company name, while LMC
Principals Felix Marggraff and
Heiko Schweim will distribute the
system under the name 101 Images.
QuesTec develops and
markets proprietary software
systems that capture, render, and
display real-time graphic
simulations that can be applied
to sports entertainment, display
media, business and industry.
