QuesTec to Introduce Internet
Broadcasting for '99
Deer
Park, N.Y. Tuesday, December 15, 1998 - QuesTec
Imaging, Inc. (QuesTec), (NASD-BB: QSTI),
announces that it will offer real-time internet
broadcasting for its television broadcast line of
virtual replay products. QuesTec will now be able
to broadcast real-time information to remote
studios for integration into the televised
production of live sporting events, tape delayed
events, remote production of pre- and post-event
analysis and for regular scheduled news
programming. Networks will now be able to produce
and replay key events and unique situations with
customized versions of SuperVision(SM), GolfProView(TM), and TennisProView(TM). Until now visiting
networks have been forced to either accept or cut
special production enhancements like QuesTec's
products due to conflicts with graphic format,
language issues for international broadcasts and
sponsorship rights.
In
late August, QuesTec was contracted by ACTV Inc. (ACTV), (NASDAQ IATV), to
provide its SuperVision production service as a
channel of content for the September 15, 1998
double-header between the New York Mets and the
Houston Astro's as part of ACTV's
"Individualized Television" digital
network. ACTV produces individualized programming
by combining different video, graphic and/or
audio signals into one multi-path telecast.
Viewers see and/or hear only one of the signals
at a given moment; the others remain transparent.
For these games, ACTV held a demonstration at the
All Star Café in New York City to display their
technology to broadcast networks and investment
banking firms. In addition to providing ACTV with
its standard SuperVision production service,
QuesTec set up a Silicon Graphics workstation at the All
Star Café and delivered real-time virtual
replays from data transmitted over the internet.
"Our
internet broadcast to the All Star Café was
QuesTec's first real-time transmission of data
over the internet. This now allows us to provide
clients like ACTV real-time graphic content
without the downlink expense associated with
standard video transmission. Its not just for TV
anymore," stated Ron Klimkowski, sports
marketing QuesTec. Potential customers for
QuesTec's real-time data and virtual replay
systems are professional leagues, individual
teams, international and national sports
broadcasters, regional sports broadcasters,
interactive television, web based television
services, interactive stadium seats, video game
developers, statistical services, video indexing
services, internet broadcasters and sports news
providers.
"We
will now be able to provide our clients with
customized virtual replay systems for
multi-broadcast events. An Australian sports
production can now be transmitted to multiple
world wide production sites where QuesTec
graphics applications can display customized
graphics and performance analysis for local
television. This offers our clients a unique and
affordable way to personalize their productions
for fractions of the expense for on-site
personnel. This will allow QuesTec to provide
services to numerous broadcasters of the same
event, each with customized graphics to match the
colors, fonts and textures of their own
production," explained Michael W. Russo,
president of QuesTec.
QuesTec
develops and markets proprietary software systems
that capture, render, and display real-time
graphic simulations that can be applied to sports
entertainment, display media, business and
industry.
